The Hague, the city where culture, nature and city life come together, is the ultimate destination for a workation. Whether you seek inspiration in historic architecture, unwind at the beach, or dive into the city center, The Hague offers something for everyone. It was high time for a mini-workation in this fun city. In this blog I share all my tips.
My mini-workstation for self-care
Sometimes you go on workation to work on a particular project, sometimes because you want an inspiring workplace and sometimes because you need to treat yourself a little after all the hard work. The latter was the case with me this time. Therefore, I looked for a location where I could pamper myself after work. My day started with a delicious breakfast buffet, enjoying all the goodies without thinking about the line. Then I went to work in the lobby, with the plus that you can order delicious coffee in between. I went for a delicious lunch in the restaurant and then I took a walk in the adjacent park. At 4 p.m. I closed my laptop and I went into the town. As a real Dutchman of course you take a bike for this.
The following day I worked mostly in my hotel room from the Leonardo Hotel, because I had a lot of video meetings and want privacy then. After all that effort, I deserved some luxury and went to the wellness in the hotel. After a day of sitting still I first dived into the pool and then into the saunas. Totally zen, I ended my evening with a super delicious dinner at LEO’s International Flavors restaurant. It’s so nice that after that you don’t have to go anywhere and can go straight to bed in your hotel. Highly recommended.
Fun activities in The Hague
When I go on workation, I am always just working during the day and fold my laptop at the end of the afternoon to go out. In a city like The Hague, there is more than enough fun things to do. These are my 3 must-do activities:
1. Bike through the dunes to Scheveningen
Rent a bike from your hotel and take a ride through the dunes towards Scheveningen beach. Along the way, you will cycle through beautiful neighborhoods of The Hague and encounter beautiful buildings. Arriving at the beach, I first went for a cup of coffee at a cozy beach club. Then I went for a nice walk. Even outside the summer, I love the fresh air and can really enjoy a walk on the beach.
2. Visit the Binnenhof and Hofvijver
The historic heart of The Hague, the Binnenhof, is an impressive place to visit. One of those places you must have been once. It’s fun to combine with a walk around the Hofvijver and the iconic Mauritshuis. Afterwards, I strolled around the city for a while and went out to eat. 3. The Scheveningse Bosjes
If there’s anything good for you, it’s getting out into nature during your workday break. Therefore, I had chosen a nice hotel that is not in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but rather close to nature. The Scheveningse Bosjes fitted perfectly into my plan to exercise more during my workday.
A fine workation accommodation
The Leonardo Royal Hotel The Hague Promenade was the perfect match for my workstation in The Hague. The location is top notch, there are nice workspaces and the big bonus: a spa! This hotel is in a strategic location, between the lively city center and the beaches of Scheveningen. The hotel is known for:
- Great facilities: Spacious rooms with comfortable workstations and fast Wi-Fi.
- Spa & wellness: Relax after a day’s work in the sauna, pool or with a wonderful massage.
- Culinary delights: The hotel has a stylish restaurant with a varied menu combining local and international dishes.
This mix of luxury and practical amenities makes the Leonardo Hotel the perfect place to work and unwind. So grab your laptop, book your stay and get ready for a fun workation in The Hague! #collaboration
