5 fine work cafes in Valencia

Valencia is a wonderful destination for remote workers. More and more people are finding this city, and the municipality is welcoming these digital nomads with open arms. The sun shines there about 300 days a year, making it an attractive workation destination. It is a very popular city among the Dutch. To work remotely, many people only need a laptop and wifi. This gives many people the opportunity to carry out their work abroad. Remote working in a city like Valencia is wonderful. There are an awful lot of nice and good flex work places to be found. More even than in Utrecht, for example. Where in the Netherlands it is sometimes not allowed or not appreciated if you sit down in a coffee bar with your laptop, in Valencia they rarely find it a problem.

Remote working in Valencia

There are several good coworking spaces, where you can rent a desk by the day, month or longer period. Then you have a good office chair, a nice desk and a quiet working environment. Just like you would have at home or in an office in the Netherlands. However, most subscriptions are per month, so not suitable if you are looking for a workstation for a day. In addition, there are many coffee cafes where you can flex work. I personally find that a very nice atmosphere and of course it is great to be able to order good coffee and a nice lunch. My preference is to work in cafes and coffee bars. Sometimes I spend a whole day there, sometimes just a morning or afternoon. If I have an important meeting that I want to be able to do absolutely undisturbed I choose to do it in my apartment and only then go to a café. After all, it can always happen that a group of noisy Spaniards will just sit down at the table next to you.

My 5 favorite places to work in Valencia

1. Flying Bean Coffee

This is absolutely my favorite. This one sits a 10-minute walk from downtown. It consists of 2 parts. One part is the restaurant where you are allowed to work at certain tables with your laptop. These are in the back and are indicated by a green sticker with laptop icon. Immediately adjacent is the office space, where you can pay €10 per day. You then have a desk, desk chair, fast wifi, a meeting room and printer to use. A cup of delicious coffee is also included in the price.

2. Dulce de Leche Ruzafa

A nice second place is for Dulce de Leche Ruzafa. Be careful though, as there are 2 branches. The one in the center is not suitable as a workplace, because it is always incredibly busy there and you cannot sit quietly. It is different in Ruzafa, where there are many flex workers. When you step inside you immediately understand why, because Dulce de Leche is a notorious bakery in Valencia. Here you eat the best cakes in the whole city.

3. Cafe ArtySana

This cozy cafe is also in the Ruzafa neighborhood. Here people come mainly to drink coffee and work. You can open your laptop here without any problems. It is not very big so come a little earlier in the day, around lunchtime it can be full. Lunch is also highly recommended, they have delicious toast with avocado and bagels. I also always succumb to some goodies in the afternoon, I found the cheesecake really delicious.
Personally, I didn’t like calling here for a long time or a lot of video meetings, because it’s a bit smaller I then feel like I’m inconveniencing others.

4. Boa beach

If you are near the beach then Boa Beach is really awesome. It is a bit touristy though and you won’t find many Spaniards here. The menu does not include tapas, but wraps, eggs bennie and noodles for example. Delicious! The decor is fantastic, I’m always very sensitive to that. It has a beach vibe, with lots of wood, bamboo and cute wicker lamps. You walk right past it because the entrance is quite narrow, but it’s oblong and you can walk a long way to the back. There you can sit relatively quietly. The wifi is fast so you can work here just fine for a day or part of the day.

5. La Mas Bonita Patacona

I recently discovered this little gem at Playa Patacona. This is not the mainstream stand that everyone goes to, but a little further from the center. In front of it you have a beautiful beach and beautiful palm trees. That can make me very happy.

You have a nice terrace at the front overlooking the sea, but also a great courtyard garden.

Anyway, there are a lot of nice joints at the beach that have beautiful courtyard gardens, you just don’t see them so you have to know where to find them. This one is very colorful with big banana plants and other tropical decorations. Here again you can eat delicious sandwiches and cakes. Chocorgasmo is highly recommended for the chocolate lovers among us (like me). Tip: always bring your earphones or noise canceling headphones, the latter is even better. Then you can do your work undisturbed.
