Why Sandra went on a workation in Valencia

As you may know, Working Remotely organized the first workation in Valencia in March 2022. Having worked remotely myself regularly for years, I decided to organize a workation in Valencia. As long as you had work you could do remotely, you could join the workation. Whether you were salaried or freelancer. I organized a fun week where we got to explore the city and meet great new people. Sandra participated and tells you exactly what it got her. “Early this year I saw a call from Working Remotely come up on Instagram about a workation in Valencia. At that time, I had been traveling around with my little dog in an old Volkswagen van for about 4 months and we happened to already be in Spain. Although I was already traveling and working remotely as a blogger and web designer, I decided to join the Valencia work station. And it paid off handsomely for me! Of course, when booking a workation you also look at the costs – and Alieke from Working Remotely can tell you all about that – but what is actually much more interesting is what you get in return. Therefore in this blog I like to share 3 things that the workation gave me.

1. Inspiration & spontaneous sparring

When I tell you that last March’s group was VERY diverse, that’s putting it mildly. 😉 In fact, the group consisted of employees, entrepreneurs from different industries, people working part-time for themselves and part-time as employees, a student and someone in between careers. It was 9 completely different individuals, who quickly formed a cozy group. Normally I mainly spar with people working in the same field, which is precisely why it was very valuable to spar with my traveling companions. Because they have different knowledge and experiences, they were able to share very different opinions and insights with me. This definitely helped me on my way to take next steps in my career. Now – 4 months later – I have made several decisions and the website for my new venture is live. The workation set this in motion and also gave me the motivation to continue. So you can say that the spontaneous sessions have been very valuable to me!

2. The best experiences in Valencia

Of course, you can go to Valencia by yourself, explore the city and/or book a guide. However, you usually never really see the authentic character of such a city when you go by yourself. What are the best places to discover? During our workation Alieke, who knows Valencia very well, showed us her favorite ‘parts’ of the city. Like the nicest squares and her favorite tapas restaurant where they also dance flamenco. I would never have spotted this nice place myself. So by booking a workation you get a completely different travel experience than when you travel by yourself. You can also ask Alieke continuously for tips, then she will help you on your way if you want to go on your own for a while.

3. New friendships with like-minded people

Last, but not least, the workation provided me with a bunch of super cute girlfriends. It’s always nice to meet like-minded people and that was definitely the case at the workation! Even though we all have completely different backgrounds and careers, we also all have something in common: traveling and enjoying life. And enjoyment we certainly did.

A workation is definitely recommended!

It gave my career a big boost, I was able to see Valencia from an authentic side AND I gained a bunch of new girlfriends. Priceless, if you ask me. 😉 Are you considering booking a workout, but still in doubt? Just do it!!!” Does such a workation in Valencia sound like you too?
