Hiking on the island of Madeira

Known as the “island of eternal spring”, Madeira is a hiker’s paradise. This Portuguese island offers a mix of mountains, cliffs and laurel forests that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In some villages there are even places where digital nomads can find free workspaces, such as in Ponta del Sol. Start your day with a walk along one of the famous levadas, such as the 25 Fontes and climb the Pico Ruivo on the weekend. The mild temperatures make working and hiking possible all year round. In the capital, Funchal, you’ll find most restaurants and all the amenities you need. Do you want to go on the road a little longer? Hiking and working in Catalonia

The Spanish region of Catalonia combines impressive nature with bustling cities. From the Pyrenees to the Costa Brava, every hiker will find something to his taste here. You can hike through the Montserrat mountains or along the coastal paths of the Costa Brava. Famous hotspots are of course Girona or Barcelona, where you can also find modern coworking spaces. In the north you will find the Catalan Pyrenees with where you can find many hiking trails for a great mountain experience.

Beautiful hiking trails in southern Portugal

Southern Portugal, with its rugged coastline, golden beaches and traditional villages, is an ideal destination for those who want to combine work with hiking and the beach. The Rota Vicentina offers spectacular hiking trails along the pristine Atlantic coast, of which the Fishermen’s Trail is even one of the most beautiful coastal walks worldwide. Small guesthouses and vacation homes offer good accommodation options and Lisbon, Lagos but also Faro are excellent bases for anyone who loves good weather, good food and nature.

Slovenia is an emerging destination for remote workers and hikers. The country has beautiful rugged mountains, green valleys and many mountain lakes. Hike in Triglav National Park along the Soča River and enjoy the impressive nature. Five tips before you hit the road

Hiking is for everyone but it is always important to prepare well. We give some tips so that you will be well prepared for your hike. 1. Choose the right trail
Don’t immediately start with the most difficult hike but choose a trail that suits your ability. 2. Wear hiking shoes
Choose hiking shoes that fit well and are suitable for the terrain. Breaking in will prevent blisters. 3. Dress in layers
The weather can change quickly. By wearing multiple layers, you can easily take off or put on something to stay warm and dry, among other things. 4. Bring plenty of water and snacks
Stay hydrated and bring energy-rich snacks such as nuts, fruit or granola bars to keep your energy up. Take at least 2 liters of water with you. 5. Plan your route and keep an eye on the weather
Know where you are going and download the GPX on a hiking app. Always check the weather forecast and let someone know where you will be hiking.
